  1. CryptoPunk #5822 -- $23 million On February 12, 2022, CryptoPunk #5822 became the most expensive CryptoPunk’s NFT ever sold when it racked up a huge $23.7m price tag. The alien-style punk featuring a blue bandana NFT has pushed the entire collection of CryptoPunk even further into the sky.

  2. Beeple’s HUMAN ONE -- $28.9 million Designed by Beeple, HUMAN ONE was sold for a record $28.985m when auctioned on November 9, 2021. The NFT shows an astronaut walking through different backgrounds. What’s exciting about this NFT is that it will keep changing over time. Beeple doesn’t own this art, but he retains remote access to it for updates.

  3. Clock -- $52 million The third most expensive NFT ever sold is Clock which depicts a timer that counts the number of days Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, has spent in prison. This NFT was sold for $52.7m to raise Assange's legal defence funds. The whopping priced NFT was ultimately purchased by AssangeDAO, a collection of 10,000 supporters who also own shares of the NFT.

  4. Beeple – Everydays: The First 5000 Days -- $69 million The second most expensive NFT is another high-grossing artwork of the famous artist Beeple. Everydays: The First 5000 Days was sold for an astronomic $69.3m price tag and brought the term "NFT" into the mainstream media and households worldwide. This NFT is a collage of 5000 individual NFTs created by Beeple for his Everydays series. It's also the priciest NFT ever sold to a single owner and is highly respected within the community.

  5. The Merge -- $91.8 million Finally, the most expensive NFT ever sold is ‘The Merge’ by Pak. It officially got the title on December 2, 2021, when 28,983 collectors pitched together for a total cost of $91.8m. The NFT contains three large white masses or dots against a black background. It was built on the scarcity mechanism that ensures its supply decreases over time, resulting in a higher mass value.

Without a doubt, NFTs are growing popular as time goes on. But this sparks the question: How high will the pricing ceiling be for NFTs? Of course, if you put your money into the right projects and be a little patient, you might find yourself with a nice little fortune down the road.
